What is a Godly Woman According to God?

What does it mean to be a godly woman? The term “godly woman” is used a lot, but what does it actually mean? According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a godly person is someone who is devout, pious, or religious. But if we look at the Bible, we see that a godly woman is so much more than that. In Proverbs 31, we see a description of the ideal godly woman and what she looks like. This passage has been referred to as the “Proverbs 31 woman” and she is someone who is worthy of emulation. So, what does the Bible say about godly womanhood? Let’s take a look at this Christian woman.

A woman of godly character is worthy of respect

The first thing we see in Proverbs 31 is that a godly woman is worthy of respect. She is not someone who is demanding or bossy, but rather she is someone who knows her worth and carries herself with confidence. This doesn’t mean that she is arrogant or haughty, but rather that she knows who she is in Christ and she knows her value.

As Christian women, we should strive to be confident in ourselves and our abilities because we are daughters of the King. We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and we have been given unique gifts and talents by our Creator. When we know who we are in Christ, it gives us the confidence to pursue our dreams and goals.

A Godly Woman is Hardworking

The second thing we see about the godly woman in Proverbs 31 is that she is hardworking. She doesn’t sit around all day doing nothing; rather, she is up early and working late into the night. She works diligently at everything she does whether it’s taking care of her home or taking care of her family.

As Christian women, we should also strive to be hardworking. We should work diligently at everything we do whether it’s our job, our schoolwork, or taking care of our homes. When we work hard, it shows that we are responsible and that we can be counted on. It also pleases God when we work hard (Colossians 3:23).

A Godly Woman Is Worth More Than Rubies

The third thing we see about the godly woman in Proverbs 31 is that she is worth more than rubies. This means that she has a true inner beauty that radiates from the inside out. It’s not just skin deep; rather, it goes all the way to her core. As Christian women, we should also strive to have an inner beauty that radiates from the inside out. We should let our light shine for Christ so that others may see Him in us (Matthew 5:16).

When we have inner beauty, it will show in everything we do whether it’s how we treat others or how we carry ourselves. People will take notice when they see Christ in us because He shines brighter than anything else in this world!

A Godly Women Leads

We see that the godly woman in Proverbs 31 leads by example. She doesn’t just talk; she puts her words into action and shows others how to live righteously through her actions. As Christian women, we should also strive to lead by example. We should show others what it means to be a Christ follower by how we live our lives. We should be an example of love, grace, and mercy to everyone around us (Matthew 5:7).

We see plenty of women leaders in the Bible. Here is a list of 11 influential women of the New Testament to start your quest. Biblical womanhood offers so much more than what many women believe is available as per Titus 2.

A Godly Woman Has Multiple Income Streams

The fourth thing we see about the godly woman in Proverbs 31 is that she has multiple income streams. She works hard and uses her different skills to make money. As Christian women, we should also strive to have multiple sources of income. We should use our God-given talents to generate income for our families.

Whether it’s through a business, working from home, or investing in stocks and bonds – having multiple income streams can help us provide for ourselves and our families. We should also always be looking for ways to increase our income so that we can better serve God with the resources He has given us. The Proverbs 31 woman used her abundance to provide for the needy. We should do the same!

A Godly Woman Is Generous and Kind

The fifth thing we see about the godly woman in Proverbs 31 is that she is generous and kind. She isn’t selfish but instead, she helps others and gives of her time and resources. As Christian women, we should also strive to be generous and kind. We should be willing to give of our time, money, and resources to those in need.

This doesn’t mean that we have to give away all our possessions but simply that we should be willing to share what God has given us with others who need it more. When we are generous and kind, it pleases God and shows that we have a heart for others (2 Corinthians 9:7).

She is a Virtuous Woman

Lastly, we see that the godly woman in Proverbs 31 is a virtuous woman. She is wise and honorable and she follows God’s commandments. As Christian women, we should also strive to be virtuous. We should seek wisdom and knowledge of God’s Word so that we can live according to His will (Proverbs 3:13).

We should also seek to be honorable women who are worthy of respect and admiration. When we live our lives in a way that honors God, it will bring Him glory and show others what kind of woman we are (1 Peter 2:12).

No matter what our individual circumstances may be – single or married, young or old, rich or poor – we can all strive to be godly women who are worth more than rubies. May God bless us as women of faith and may His grace shine through us every day!
