How to Start Your Own Motherhood Ministry With Ease
Motherhood is an important role in our society and that’s why I firmly believe in making motherhood your ministry. I have met so many women who were wondering how to start a ministry or felt awful for not serving in ministry. But the thing is, motherhood will be one of your greatest ministries.
Throughout the Bible, we have many examples of motherhood ministry. I am so excited to share with you how women in the Bible chose to be faithful in the task of being a mother and brought about great change for their families and communities and the impact that ministry has for generations.
What is a Motherhood Ministry – Understanding the Biblical Definition
First and foremost, let’s define what a ministry is. I think way too often we get this very conflated idea of what a ministry is. Worklife.org explains it well. “The word “ministry” actually comes from a root word that means “to serve”, as in serving God and His people, our neighbors and coworkers. So any job done with God and for His purpose is ministry.”
In that regard, we’re all in ministry. Being a mother does not make the work you do any less. Motherhood is a special kind of ministry because it does something that no other role can do. It builds, nurtures, and loves the next generations. Whoa! That’s important stuff.
The importance of motherhood ministry in our current time cannot be overstated. Our children are the future generation that will go on to shape society. As mothers, we have the responsibility to raise our children with a strong moral compass and good values for them to carry on into adulthood. We’ve been given an incredible opportunity to not only shape their lives but set them up for success in the years ahead.
When I look at what children are exposed to, the ideologies they carry and other worldly things, I see a need for motherhood ministry now more than ever. I believe it’s a lack of ministry in the home that has brought about some of the social changes we have seen.
What kind of legacy will you leave behind?
Examples of Mothers in the Bible Who Show the Power of the Ministry
When I think of mothers in the Bible, a few names come to mind.
The first is Mary, the mother of Jesus. From the beginning, it was clear that she was special and chosen for a greater purpose. We know her as the meek and humble mother who said yes to God’s plan for her life despite the many risks and uncertainty. Her faithfulness in that moment of obedience changed the course of history.
Another example is Hannah, the mother of Samuel. She was desperate for a child and prayed fervently to God for a son. And when she finally had her son she dedicated him as a Nazarite offering him to God’s service. What a beautiful picture of faith and commitment.
Finally, we have Jochebed, the mother of Moses. She is a great example of faith and courage in the face of danger. In her desperation to save her baby’s life, she risked everything by placing him in a basket and sending him down the river. Her act of courage and trust triggered events that would eventually lead to Israel’s freedom from slavery.
In Timothy, we read about Lois and Eunice. They were the mother and grandmother of Timothy. Their faithfulness as mothers played a crucial role in his spiritual upbringing. The continuation of ministry throughout their lineage is cited by the Bible as the reason for Timothy’s spiritual success.
These women demonstrate how powerful a mother’s ministry is. Each of them faced difficult circumstances and yet was able to make a lasting impact. These women did what they had to do to instill God’s values and left behind a legacy of faith.
What kind of legacy will you leave behind? The world needs more brave and faithful mothers who stand up for their families and share the love of Jesus with the next generation.
We can see that women in the Bible were not just mothers, but they also served as ministers to their families and communities. This is incredible because it speaks to how powerful ministry through motherhood can be for our future generations.
Motherhood ministry is a serious calling and responsibility that should not be taken lightly. We have an incredible opportunity to shape the future of our society and leave behind a legacy of faith.
