The Power of Leverage as a Mama Through Network Marketing
Mamas, have you ever felt like you’re stuck in a rut? Like maybe your calling is beyond the calling of wife and mother? You’re not alone. So many of us feel like we’re just spinning our wheels, going through the motions day in and day out. While being a wife and mother is one of the greatest callings, it doesn’t have to be everything you are. What if I told you there was a way to break out of that hamster wheel cycle? Before you exit this post, hear me out. I was anti-network marketing too. Actually, here’s a podcast about how much I hated it. I have countless social media posts making fun of it as well because I have my Master’s in Marketing and come from the C-Suite as a professional marketer. So trust me, where I hear you. I was wrong about Network Marketing.
What is Network Marketing?
In a nutshell, network marketing definition is a business model in which independent contractors sell products and services on behalf of a company and then earn on the sales force they train. What sets it apart from other business models is that it relies heavily on word-of-mouth marketing to generate new leads and customers. In other words, it’s all about building relationships and creating a community of passionate advocates who will spread the word about your products or services. This is actually super brilliant of the company because the customer becomes their sales force.
Here’s why I love this model now. When I was in marketing, I was constantly training the sales team. I’d send out emails each week about what the focus of the marketing was and how to handle that with their prospects. But I wouldn’t reap the benefits. I was training but not earning. I was managing the team but I didn’t see the fruits of that labor. The sales team did. They closed the deals and got the commissions. Makes sense but I brought the leads, did the training, etc. and that really bothered me. I knew I could do better for myself.
Why Network Marketing is Perfect for Mamas
As a mama, you are always looking for ways to make your life easier. And what could be easier than having a business that you can run from the comfort of your own home? With network marketing, there’s no need for expensive office space or child care. You can set your own hours and work around your family’s schedule.
But the real power of network marketing lies in its ability to help you create passive income streams. What is passive income, you ask? It’s income that you earn without having to put forth active effort. For example, if you build a team of passionate advocates who sell products on your behalf, you’ll earn a commission on their sales even if you’re not actively working at the moment. That means you can finally start putting your precious time and energy into the things that matter most to you—like spending time with your family or pursuing your passions.
Imagine you have 10 hours a week to work. You get to earn on that 10 hours a week. But let’s say you have 4 people on your team also and they can work 10 hours a week. Now, you’re earning on 50 hours a week worth of work but only putting in 10 hours. That’s the power of leverage. My mentor, Michelle Schaffer, talks about this all the time. Successful Network Marketing
Remember network marketing businesses are all created differently so find what speaks to you. Meet the founders if you can (you can at Girl Power Alliance), look at the comp plan, watch the videos, etc. before making a decision. Also, pray about it. Go where God leads. The best way to have success is to go where God leads and connect with the right mentor for you. Network Marketing success is really dependent upon you and the work you’re willing to put in. You’ll only be as successful as you allow yourself to be. That’s why I always recommend you partner with God in your profession because He is going to be the best source to lead and guide you.
