Perfect Summertime Slow Cooker Dishes for After Church

Y’all I live in South Georgia and it gets hot, well it just stays hot. Minus that 2 week stint we have in the “winter.” When I lived in the North East I felt like my slow cooker got a lot of use because so many of the recipes were made for the winter.

But there is nothing I love more than throwing something in my crockpot before church and walking in to the smell of something delicious. With that in mind I gathered some light meals you can put in your crockpot this summer that will leave you satisfied. After all, the Sabbath is for resting and there’s nothing more restful than a slow cooker.

Slow Cooker Macadamia Pineapple Chicken | Strength and Sunshine

Here’s what Rebecca had to say:

Set your slow cooker and when you come home you’ll be taking a trip to the tropics. Slow Cooker Macadamia Pineapple Chicken is the perfect balance of sweet and savory with a tropical flare. A delicious and easy gluten-free paleo dinner recipe.

Y’all this is my kind of slow cooker meal. I live for all things tropical and my hubs keeps the dried pineapple in stock because it’s my favorite snack. I give this a 10/10.

Slow Cooker Milk and Honey Corn on the Cob | The Magical Slowcooker

Honestly, before this post I didn’t even consider making sides in the slow cooker. Here I am burning up in my kitchen while my husband is grilling when I could have thrown my favorite veg into the slow cooker. This recipe looks amazing and will be trying it out asap.

Slow Cooker Mexican Shredded Chicken | Whole Lotta Yum

So my husband was born in El Paso, TX and landed here by way of the Army. The hunt for solid Mexican is hard. We leave a lot of restaurants not thrilled. We have our one go-to place and the rest of the time we’re making Mexican at home. I just was upgraded to making the burritos and tacos myself.

This Mexican shredded chicken looks amazing. I feel like it would be hubby approved. Voting yes to this!

Slow Cooker Carne Asada Bowls Mango Sauce | The Oregon Dietitian

You know how I feel about Mexican and this is screaming my name. Mangos. Avocado. Carne Asada. YES MA’AM.

This is totally something my kids would love and be guilt-free. This recipe is definitely going on our regular list.

Chipotle Copycat Barbacoa Beef – Slow Cooker or Instant Pot | Cook at Home Mom

Laura from Cook at Home Mom is speaking my love language here and for sure my husband’s. Barbacoa is probably one of his favorite things and something he misses most from EP. Check out what Laura said about this dish.

These Paleo, Low Carb and Whole30 ChipotleCopycatBarbacoa Salad Bowls are super easy to make and just so darn good. Don’t worry! Make ultra-tender, slightly spicy Barbacoa Beef in the slow cooker or Pressure Cooker, whichever you prefer!

Slow Cooker Shrimp Boil | Simply Happy Foodie

Living in South Georgia and by the coast, Shrimp Boils are a must. When I lived in South Carolina in college, it was my first experience with a Shrimp Boil and it was forever marked as my favorite summertime food.

“A shrimp boil is actually an event. It’s like a clam bake, in that you get people together to have a ‘shrimp boil’.”

This is the perfect dish for inviting friends over after Church and going to town.

Easy Dr. Pepper Slow Cooker Pork Chops Recipe | Two Kids and a Coupon

There are two things my family loves: my pork chops and Dr. Pepper. This is the perfect combination. We may even have to pair it with those Dr. Pepper Baked Beans 🙂 *mouth watering*

Crock Pot Balsamic Chicken | Served from Scratch

I don’t use Balsamic much unless my hubs is out of town because it does not jive well with him. I personally love it.

This recipe from Tracy at Served from Scratch is incredible and definitely on my list for the next time my hubs goes camping with his buddies.

Slow Cooker Carnitas Tacos | Food Meandering

These are my favorite tacos hands down. There’s nothing I love more than some carnitas. This recipe looks like the bomb diggity and 10/10 recommend you trying it out this summer.
